All Californians benefit when our children receive basic health care and we’re closer than ever to meeting that goal. As healthcare reform is proving to be an important legislative issue this year, the CCK coalition is striving to increase awareness and importance of their revised principles for 2007.
Guiding principle for 2007: Any meaningful healthcare reform
MUST include a plan to cover all kids this year.
The Cover California's Kids Coalition also supports the following goals:
Create a strong public/private plan in which all California children will have access to affordable health insurance
Build upon what works in California's publicly-funded state insurance programs and reform what does not, including modernizing and simplifying enrollment.
Create a statewide solution that leverages the lessons and successes of local children's health initiatives.
Promote voluntary opportunities to strengthen employer participation in covering dependents.
Develop sustainable financing that supports the system over the long term, including maximizing federal funding.
Promote opportunities for children to access services under their health insurance coverage.
Ensure a strong safety net as a vital component of access to care.
Cover California’s Kids is a public education campaign supported by health care providers, business groups, teachers, parents, faith-based organizations, labor, and children’s advocates and funded by The California Endowment.
